Big change
REGULARGAMES IS BACK IN BUSINESS BABY!!! (Part 2) Now that I’ve returned to my home once more, it’s time to announce what I’m planning on doing with the full release of this game because HOLY HECK i have so much to tell.
Background: First of all to be honest, im not proud of the direction I led this project in when I first started it. I will confess that I was 13 when I created Minute, and all of the art and concepts feel completely outdated with the vision I have today. Also besides the fact that it was programmed in scratch, the way the game was coded is very messy and inconsistent. This started hurting my head as soon as I came back so now i’m determined to take the game beyond how I originally imagined it and remake almost everything about it. Version 1.0 of minute won’t be a small step for release, but a GIANT leap for minute kind!

Remaking changes:
- Art: I’m gonna either try to redesign all the backgrounds, objects, and UI myself, or hire someone I know to do it for me. I want to make it look more polished and refrain from using the scratch vector art maker. I really like the psychedelic look i created (just didn’t know what I was doing then lol) so I’m gonna keep that vision for the final product.
- Programming: like I said before, my coding skills in 2022 were NOT great and made the game super buggy and all over the place. So I would like to clean up the code to be more organized and concise. This doesn’t mean I’ll completely reprogram but there will be noticeable fixes.
- Unity/other gaming engine: this should technically be in the programming section, but I didn’t want to make that look too long to read ;) I’m gonna start the process of converting the game to unity a little soon. However, I’m now unsure of the game engine that would be right for me at the moment, so I could end up using a different engine instead.
More updates: all the features I mentioned in the last devlog will still be added, but I need to announce 2 new additions. The first I think will alter the whole strategy of playing.
- Arrow breaking: This might be a little hard to explain lmao. I’m adding the function of the sliding arrow to break after a certain amount of time of it passing and hitting the red box. The arrow will keep decaying until it breaks and you automatically lose. I hope this gets rid of the ability to stay idle in levels and makes the game more quick paced.
- Music: I’m adding my own music! :D that’s pretty much all I have to say hehe
